Models 1281A/1281B Multiplexer
The models 1281A and 1281B are computer-controlled analog signal
multiplexers with eight channels for use with a Solartron
potentiostat/galvanostat, e.g. the models 1280, 1285A, 1286 or
1287A. It can connect the potentiostat signal connections to any of
eight different test cells for high performance multichannel testing
and automated monitoring. This ability to measure samples
sequentially can significantly increase instrument productivity as
well as improving sample throughput.
Exceptional AC and DC performance provides for a wide range of
measurement capabilities, and all critical signals are
independently shielded in the high performance connection cables.
The model 1281A is the basic unit; the model 1281B includes eight
voltage hold modules to allow control of electrode potential when a
cell is disconnected from connected potentiostat/galvanostat by the
multiplexer. For example, this allows an independent and different
polarization to be applied to each of seven electrodes/cells while
using the main potentiostat to run a Tafel plot on the active cell.
The 16 bit D/A converter used within these voltage hold modules
allows accurate control over a wide range of potentials in 1
millivolt steps, while their current capabilities of the are
suitable for use with larger electrodes.
The multiplexer is controlled via a GPIB interface port.
Features
- Eight independent channels
- Compatible with Solartron 1280/1285A/1286/1287A
Potentiostats
- Includes MuxItTM software for
stand-alone operation
- Includes SCANNERT software for operation with
CorrWare and ZPlot
Applications
The 1281A/1281B Multiplexer used in conjunction with one of
Solartron's potentiostats/galvanostats is used in numerous
electrochemical and materials based research and development fields
including:
- Corrosion and inhibitor studies
- Sensor research
- Fuel cell and battery development
- Electrosynthesis
- General electrochemistry
The MuxItTM control software permits the 1281A/1281B
to be used in an interactive or stand-alone mode. Each channel may
be controlled separately and in the case of the 1281B its
polarization potential can be set. The MuxItTM software
included with each unit can control up to two further units for
higher channel count applications.
