Cell System Operating Software and 1470E Firmware Upgrades

1470E Software  Upgrade Instructions
Remove any previous version of Celltest, using the Windows Add/Remove utility in the Control Panel. Download the latest version of Celltest software by following the links from the above table, saving the zipped file into an empty folder. Open the zip file and click on setup.exe and follow the on screen instructions. If you do upgrade your software, it is advisable to upgrade the 1470E firmware to the latest versions as well - see below.

1470E Operating Firmware
The model 1470E can have up to four types of firmware installed, depending on the options that are fitted.

1470E Firmware Upgrade Instructions
If you don’t have Celltest installed, you will first need to install Celltest - see the section above. You will also need a straight through (not a null-modem) serial cable to connect the 9 pin port on the back of the 1470E to the COM1 port on your computer. Other com ports can be used as well.

Download the required files by following the links from the above table, saving the files into an empty folder. Open each zip file and extract the firmware file it contains into the same folder.

Start the CellTest software, and then go to toolsàAdvanced FeaturesàUpgrade Firmware. A window will pop up that similar to that shown below:

In the window marked "marshalling code" a file named "14705403AF.s??" should be placed. To get the firmware upgrader to look in the correct place, click on the small button with the elipsis on the right side of the upgrade firmware window. This will allow you to select the folder in whgich you saved the downloaded firmware file. Double click on the file with the name 14705403AF.s??, where ?? is the version number. Click on open in the Choose an S record to download window.

In the window marked "Main Channel DSP Code" a file named "14705404??.mpm" should be placed. Click on open in the Choose a main channel DSP S- record to download window.

In the window marked "Temperature Channel DSP Code" a file named "14705405??.mpm" should be placed. Click on open in the Choose a Temperature channel DSP S- record to download window.

In the window marked "Option Channel DSP Code" a file named "14705406??.mpm" should be placed. Open the folder and double click on the file named above. Click on open in the Choose a Option channel DSP S- record to download window.

Connect the COM1 port on the computer to the 9 pin serial port on the back of the 1470E using the 9 pin serial cable.

Click the Send Upgrade button in the upgrade firmware window.  Turn ON the 1470E and immediately click OK.

After minutes or so, a message saying that the firmware has been upgraded successfully should come up and it will ask if you want to boot the 1470E. Click OK, and after several minutes, it should come up with the message "All channels have booted successfully."

This completes the procedure for updating the 1470E firmware

1451A -1455A FRA Operating Firmware
