Products and Applications

Solartron Analytical products are used in three key application areas. Click the relevant images below, or the links on the left, to find out more:

We design and manufacture a range of instruments for the rapid and accurate measurement of electrochemical phenomena. Covering DC and AC electrochemical analysis, our products include the powerful ModuLab modular system for research electrochemistry, the multichannel CellTest system, as well as a range of standalone potentiostats/galvanostats, impedance analyzers, multiplexers, and multistats. Application software includes the ModuLab suite as well as the popular ZPlot and CorrWare packages.

Electrical Characterization of Materials Instrument requirements for useful analysis demand extremely accurate measurement of magnitude and phase, along with reference components and normalization routines to minimize the effects of stray cell and lead capacitances.

Our new ModuLab-MTS test system builds on the success of our Model 1260A Frequency Response Analyzer, which is renowned for its accurate measurement of phase and its wide impedance range. With both ModuLab-MTS and 1260 based systems, testing at low temperatures is facilitated by an optional cryostat system, and we also offer a room temperature sample holder.

This dielectric test system allows the user to investigate the frequency response of a material over an extended impedance range (up to 10^14 ohms), and under varying experimental conditions of AC amplitude control, DC bias to 1 kV AC or DC, and temperature.

Solartron Analytical Frequency Response Analyzers are widely used for testing the phase and magnitude transfer function of both purely electrical and mixed systems. In these experiments the FRA's generator output (essentially a sinusoidal oscillator) is connected either directly to the system under test, or via an electromechanical transducer (e.g. a solenoid). The response of the system to the applied oscillation is then connected, either by direct electrical connection or via another transducer (e.g. a microphone) to the analyzer input of the FRA.

We offer a range of supporting instruments and accessories for use with our products, including:
